Introduction (Project Objectives)

This project was planned to produce a video based on the idea of letting people know the history of Hiraodai from the postwar period to the present and passing it on to future generations, as well as the history of those who survived the harsh postwar conditions in Hiraodai. The scenery we see now is the crystallization of the history built by our predecessors, and is an environment worth protecting. What were your thoughts as you lived with Hiraodai? What do you want it to be like in the future? We hope that by listening to such stories and conveying these thoughts to those who are attracted to Hiraodai, it will become an opportunity to cherish the environment of this area.

What is a pioneer group?

This refers to people who worked to develop farmland to solve the postwar food shortage . At the time, there was an agricultural training facility in Tachiarai, Fukuoka, and people who received agricultural training there for three months settled in various areas as pioneer groups. Hiraodai was one of them, and from 1947, 37 settlers gradually cultivated the rocky land day after day with only hoes.

We will be publishing some of the notes written by Hideko Nakajima, who married into a pioneer group.
