What kind of place is Hiraodai ?
Hiraodai Quasi-National Park
Located in Kokuraminami-ku, Kitakyushu City, Fukuoka Prefecture, adjacent to Yukuhashi City and Kanda Town, it is one of Japan's most naturally rich karst plateaus, along with Akiyoshidai in Yamaguchi Prefecture and the karst plateaus of Shikoku. Parts of it are designated as quasi-national parks and natural monuments , and the bowl-shaped depressions called dolines create a unique landscape. It is characterized by the limestone caves that are unique to karst plateaus, and in addition to the three caves that are tourist-friendly, Senbutsu Cave, Mejiro Cave, and Oshika Cave, it is also the only place in Kyushu where you can experience the outdoor activity of full-scale caving (cave exploration), which involves exploring untouristed caves . There are also trekking routes that even beginners can enjoy with peace of mind, and a trail running race produced by Hiroki Ishikawa is also held. You can do mountain climbing, wild plant observation, wild bird watching, stream climbing, camping, and paragliding, and it is crowded with people who enjoy all kinds of outdoor sports on the ground, underground, and in the sky.

By car
From Fukuoka
After getting off at Fukuoka IC or Kokura Minami IC, take Route 322 towards Tagawa for about 5 minutes. Turn left at Hiraodai intersection and continue for about 12 minutes.

From Shimonoseki/Yamaguchi
After getting off at Kokura Minami IC, take Route 322 towards Tagawa for about 5 minutes. Turn left at Hiraodai intersection and continue for about 12 minutes.
From Oita
Take Prefectural Route 28 from the Higashi Kyushu Expressway Yukuhashi IC.
